Beam shot Mr.Lite LT2 and SS2 comparison, June 2010

DSC_2318

This beam shot compares MrLite LT2 and SS2 to other lights. Because the Mr.Lite lights are a bit special in design or material, I have mostly selected titanium and steel lights for comparison. The Mr.Lite are shown with both CR123 and freshly charged LiIon batteries and the Mini is shown both in neutral and cool version. The lineup includes (Same sequence as the picture): Mr.Lite LT2, Mr.Lite SS2, 4Sevens Quark123, 4Sevens Mini123 Ti, JetBeam E3P, JetBeam E3S, Fenix PD10 Ti.

BrightnessMax

The LT2 and SS2 lights are not the most powerful lights in this roundup, especially because the LiIon will only stay at full brightness for a short time. But as can be seen from the beam shots, visually there is not that much difference.

Brightness

Comparing all brightness settings on a logarithmic scale, the differences in high are not that obvious (Logarithmic scale are close to visual impression), but it can be seen that there are large differences in the low levels.

BrightnessLux

Measuring lux at 2 meters, shows the LT2 and SS2 as average throwers in this roundup. The Quark123 is the best thrower and the E3S and PD10 are both more flood lights.

Weight

The SS2 is a very heavy light, compared to the other lights in this roundup. The two other stainless steel light also feels heavy, but the LT2 does not feel as heavy, probably due to its size.
Note: All lights with batteries, eneloop for AA, CR123 for the other.

4Sevens Quark123

DSC_2322

The Quark has 5 brightness settings and 3 flashing modes, it uses a combination of tight/loose head and presses on the tail button to select mode. The light can both uses CR123 and LiIon, I have only used CR123 here, the brightness on LiIon is the same.
This version here uses a Cree XP-E R2 led and it not the newest version of the light.

4Sevens Mini123 Ti

DSC_2323

This light has 3 brightness settings and 3 hidden flashing settings, to turn on/off and change mode the head must be tightned/loosed. The light exist in many different versions, both aluminum and titanium with cool, neutral and warm emitters.
The cool version used here has a Cree XP-G R5 led.
The neutral version used here has a Cree XP-E Q3 5a3 led.
